SWOT

Our AS Blog
Within our AS work and blogging we had a range of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. This is called SWOT and some which held us back but we were able to overcome most of them.

Strengths: 

  • The biggest strengths within our AS work was the level of detail. Especially when it came to evaluating the final cut and the prelim. This was done through video. In fact our evaluations were our strongest piece of work. as we used a mixture of videos and written formats. 
  • Our organisation was consistent and we planned out and had a good timetable. The way that we used promotion to promote the film was one of our strong points too, as we had a Twitter page, a Facebook page and a Film poster.

Weaknesses: 

  • The layout, so the spacing of some of the of blog entries were a bit untidy. 
  • The filming was a bit inconsistent as in we made the film a bit choppy and it didn't really flow. Then when we had the final piece put together we noticed that there were a range of long shots but not enough close ups, so it appeared we were far away from the character to start off. Giving off the wrong impression. 
  • At one point we found that our footage was incorrect, as it had been filmed the wrong way round, so this meant that we had to make more time to re-film certain scenes.

Opportunities:

  • We think that we may have been able to have improved it if we had a darker background/setting to suite the genre a little bit better as when we filmed it, the background lightning was a little bit bright to give the same effect as it would if they background was darker or slightly duller. 
  • We could have used more formats to present our work on the blog entries. we only really used videos, a PowerPoint slides, voice recordings and YouTube links to present our work, whereas we could have used Prezi.

Threats: 

  • When filming there were many threats including the fact that we could have had bad weather, which would have affected the how much time we had to film and how we could film. 
  • Another threat could have been that where we working with animals,i.e. a horse, the horse could have got scared and ran off or hurt one of us by mistake. 
  • Another threat was that we may not have got permission to film on the land that we used. Time was also a threat to us as at one point we were not sure if we were going to have enough time to complete the project.

    Did you not consider the use of long shots and close ups when you storyboarded?

Textual analysis of Toxic - Britney Spears

                                                         Britney Spears TOXIC Performance – When she is on the phone, it acts as if she is telling the story whereas the shots of her in her white suit is aimed to be more sexual and less story based. She performs every now and then in her see through suit where she dances and its quicker shots. Whereas when she’s walking on the plane its longer shots and slower crops, the shot on the plane tells more of a narrative. She is sexualised throughout the whole of the music video; however, some parts are more sexualised than others are. Meet the artist (Galantis)

Who are they? Galantis are a duo of two Swedish DJ's called Christian Karlsson and Linus Eklow. . Christian Karlsson is  also known as 'Bloodshy' and Christian Karlsson is known as 'Style of Eye'.  Their first debut was their self-titled Galantis  and was released on the 1st April 2014. The duo met at Karlsson's Robotberget studios in Stockholm in 2007. How did they form together? They originally were  two separate DJ's.  Karlsson worked and collaborated with artists such as Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry and Britney Spears.  Whilst Eklow produced Icon Pop's hit 'I love it".  Karlsson reached out to Eklow for help with remixing his song 'Animal".  After that they began to hang out more as a duo and began exchanging ideas in the studio.
