Evaluation 4- How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation?

Many media technologies were used throughout the project, this includes the following and how they were used: YouTube: YouTube was  more for construction of the project. It was used as a way of uploading videos to the blog. This was things such as the directors commentary, focus group and final film. The reason we found it easier to upload to YouTube first was because then we could link the YouTube link to the blog, plus with YouTube you can also edit the way a viewer sees the video. Twitter: Twitter again was used for construction of the project. It was used as a way of promoting the video to our target market. This is because with Twitter you can link YouTube links and reach out to mass audiences through the use of tweeting and retweeting. Twitter also allows other people to share with one another and a biography can be made up on the Twitter page allowing you to link other social media accounts and websites. Facebook: Facebook is anot...

Which Websites could we use to promote the music video?

Website Plan

As labelled above the website is going to purple  background and white fonts with links to the social media sites associated with the music video. As well as having an About section that discusses the new video and song, music tab which features previous songs, a merchandise tab, an info tab that mentions release dates, a video tab that has the link to the new music video and old music videos and then a tab about the artist. The logo will also be featured and then the song title will be the name of the website. This is only a basic plan but we are opening to create something similar. t

Website analysis of Dua Lipa

Website Home Page The home page features a black and white theme keeping it simple and modern. The photo featured is of the artist 'Dua Lipa'. This is to show the artist on the main page and this is because that is what her fans want to see when they click onto her website. The use of the male gaze is used as she is seen drawing attention to her lips by holding up the flower to her mouth. This is so that she hits both genders in different ways. There is also a navigation bar featuring white headings that when you hoover over them they underline and this is to help you navigate your way around the website easily. By having the navigation at the top and easy to see just means that they're more likely to keep navigating and exploring the website as the navigation bar will be able to show more things to explore when hovered over. There are also a range of social media logos including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Spotify, Apple and emails.  The...

Website analysis of Weeknd

Website Home Page The Weekend website has a simple colour scheme of black and white colour shade for the font title, but the actual imagery is a range of greys and blacks to coordinate with the outfit of the man displayed.  The artist is also featured on the page to help establish who the website is promoting.  The navigation bar at the top is white font and when you hoover over them they light up to help suggest to you that these can be clicked.  There is also a hyperlink labeled 'Watch Now' for you to click on that takes you to another page.  The website is aimed at fans of the artist as it also allows you to make a membership, suggesting dedication to the artist. There is a cart option, suggesting fans can purchase merchandise.  Then there is a 'get updates' icon that allows fans to sign up and get notified. This is a great feature as it allows fans to keep in contact and update with their favourite artist. The screenshot below shows a pag...

Mood board of Websites

The mood board below is of websites of all artists that are of the same genre as our chosen genre of electro pop. Each of these websites has inspired us to create and choose the theme of our own website. The style that most artists use for their website is vibrant colours and a common feature is a space type theme. The majority of them have featured the artist on them, apart from one or two who have just used either the artists name, a logo or images associated with the artist.

Meet the artist (Galantis)

Who are they? Galantis are a duo of two Swedish DJ's called Christian Karlsson and Linus Eklow. . Christian Karlsson is  also known as 'Bloodshy' and Christian Karlsson is known as 'Style of Eye'.  Their first debut was their self-titled Galantis  and was released on the 1st April 2014. The duo met at Karlsson's Robotberget studios in Stockholm in 2007. How did they form together? They originally were  two separate DJ's.  Karlsson worked and collaborated with artists such as Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry and Britney Spears.  Whilst Eklow produced Icon Pop's hit 'I love it".  Karlsson reached out to Eklow for help with remixing his song 'Animal".  After that they began to hang out more as a duo and began exchanging ideas in the studio. T That was when they realised that they had formed a band and named themselves "Galantis".  The website features a subscription of option where you can...

Production Logo

Our Logo This is our logo for our music video that I created -  The logo was created to fit in within our chosen genre of electro-pop. It fits in well with the genre of the song as it is electro-pop, which often uses vibrant colours. In this case there has been'funky' colours used which is pink blended into an orange colour. These colours work well together and the white text across it actually presenting the Logo name works well as it stands out.  The logo  was created with an App Store app called 'Logo maker'. The app allows you to make your own original logos through uses of different colours, textures, fonts and shapes. We could've used templates to help us build it however we wanted it to be original so we built it from scratch. We left it basic and no image included, we kept it as a background with text only.

Our first social media site that we uploaded it up onto was Facebook  From our Facebook page when uploading our music video we received  feedback from our followers/audience within Facebook.  This is a few comments that we received - Female Comment -  The Video is good overall however I would say that you could improve on the length of shots as usually music videos are more up to speed. Male Comment - The video had a good selection of different shots which was effective. Our next social media site that we uploaded it up onto was Instagram  On Instagram we uploaded the music video up to their also and we received feedback through Instagram too. People had tagged other users in also so that their friends were also able to watch and ...

Directors commentary

Ideas for our music video

When we first had to come up with ideas we watched a lot of music videos to try and find a source of influence. We had a fair number of ideas that we thought we could use for the performance. The ideas we had included a performance of the artist singing the song, alongside a narrative of a boy and a girls relationship and how they are in love. The flashbacks would be of the boy and girl on dates and romantic moments. Then another was the idea that two friends want to runaway together to get away from the world and start off fresh. One other idea was to film props related to the theme of romance and love. Then another idea was the use of lyrics going on as the artist performed the song, so very much like a lyric video.

Group messages

During the production and filming stages of the media project of making the music video we had to discuss and arrange a lot of things outside of school. We did most of this by mobile phones on i-Message. We discussed days to meet up, who was blogging what posts and what needed to be completed next. By planning by text messages, this made it a lot easier to communicate so that we didn't have any technical difficulties when trying to get through to each other. We found if we messaged just on one place for example over text it mean't we had all messages in one designated area, therefore we were able to go back on messages and check what we had decided for that blog, that day of filming etc. We were also able to share footage over it to one and another so it could be transferred onto the Macbook for editing. Here is a message between myself and Olivia when planning on meet ups, this was on a day we had planned to meet and we had to change it as it was raining and the film...
