Website analysis of Weeknd

Website Home Page

The Weekend website has a simple colour scheme of black and white colour shade for the font title, but the actual imagery is a range of greys and blacks to coordinate with the outfit of the man displayed.

The artist is also featured on the page to help establish who the website is promoting.

The navigation bar at the top is white font and when you hoover over them they light up to help suggest to you that these can be clicked.

There is also a hyperlink labeled 'Watch Now' for you to click on that takes you to another page.

The website is aimed at fans of the artist as it also allows you to make a membership, suggesting dedication to the artist. There is a cart option, suggesting fans can purchase merchandise.

Then there is a 'get updates' icon that allows fans to sign up and get notified. This is a great feature as it allows fans to keep in contact and update with their favourite artist.

The screenshot below shows a page that you can view after you scroll down on the homepage. There are a range of options listed that allow you to listen to albums by the Weeknd. This is different music streaming and downloading sites, including, Spotify, iTunes, Apple music, Napster and Google music.

Tours Page

One of the links on the navigation bar is 'Tours' and once clicked on it takes fans to page with a list of places and dates of when 'The Weeknd' is performing. This is great for fans to again stay in contact with when the artist is performing. This colour scheme links in with the theme of the tour, the tour is suggested to be sci-fi and you can tell this from the use of colours and the imagery used.

Purpose of the website
The purpose of the website is to allow fans to keep in contact and up to date with the artists doings, so this could be a release of a new album, a new song release, concert and tour venues and dates, how to listen to the music  by the artist and possibly to even purchase merchandise.

Is the website efficient and easy for fans to use?
The website is a simple layout and easy to navigate through. The colours are very bland unless it is fitting to a theme of an album. Overall though I think that anyone could use this page effectively and find everything that they needed or wanted from the page.

Textual Analysis - Sia Chandelier

Sia Chandelier This music video is mainly well known for its  choreography as this is a memorable factor, there is no lip syncing - it is just literally Maddie dancing to the meaning of the song. Performance –  Sia doesn't like to star in her own videos, she has Maddie Ziegler a young girl who dancers throughout for her as a dancer. The performance is of Maddie dancing all around an abandoned, neglected location which is dirty and unpleasant. Lyrics -   The words "swinging from a chandelier" is usually know as a metaphor for partying to excess. As she states in the lyrics "party girls don't get hurt" so if she keeps drinking she won't feel the pain that addictions can eventually give.  She si...

Textual analysis of Toxic - Britney Spears

Britney Spears TOXIC Performance – When she is on the phone, it acts as if she is telling the story whereas the shots of her in her white suit is aimed to be more sexual and less story based. She performs every now and then in her see through suit where she dances and its quicker shots. Whereas when she’s walking on the plane its longer shots and slower crops, the shot on the plane tells more of a narrative. She is sexualised throughout the whole of the music video; however, some parts are more sexualised than others are. Shown by the costumes she is in and also movements, she is quite confident and out there, giving her a powerful image. Although the plane is filled with men she is dominant over them. Lyrics - Helps tell the story or give a general feeling or mood. Don...
