Diary of DAY ONE shooting

Our first day of filming

The day this took place was 03/10/17.
Day - Tuesday
Time - 3.30PM
Location - Park/fields
Length of filming - 1 hour and 30 minutes

This is to show how the day of our filming turned out. Here we will show what went well/wrong and any problems we received whilst filming. This was our first lot of shots that we filmed. On our first day of filming we wanted to just film what we had planned however we did several shots a few times so we had options to choose. This mean't that we would be able to choose the one that looked the most effective and fitted the best. We aim to get roughly the first minute filmed.

On our first day of shooting here are a few shots we got from our filming -
We managed to film roughly 1m30s of the music video where we got various shots to create our music video. We had only planned to get the first minutes worth of filming so we managed to get more filming done than expected. We tried to vary our shot types, shot angles and how long the length of shot was. As usually in a music video they are choppy, lots of cuts and different shots of different locations/areas within a location. We managed to get a wide range, however some would have to be re-shot.
The weather we had was cloudy but the sun was shining through so it was darker as some points than others but over all it was great weather to film and all added effect.

Problems we had -
We didn't really encounter any problems except the fact we might not be able to match the weather we received on the first day of filming however we are going to try and film on a day where the weather is pretty similar. A few shots we had to do several times but there wasn't any major problems whilst filming. There was no rain that ruined our filming. It worked out well overall. On some shots we would film it the wrong way round, we would turn the screen portrait instead of landscape which is not what we wanted to do as we needed all filming the same way, meaning we had to re-shot some of these shots again after one another, it didn't take up much time though.

Things that went well during filming
The weather turn't out to be really good for the mood/setting of the music video it looked good and we was glad it was this weather we had to work with because we was lucky. We got some good shots we were happy with and overall the first day went well as we got shots we expected to get and managed to film the first one minute and half of it in one shooting. We was helped out by the weather as it mean't we could film for longer than just an hour which was helpful as it allowed us to get further into the music video and got more footage than expected.

Equipment/Lighting decisions in our music video

Lighting is very important in music videos, as it allows it to be easier to see and also as it sets certain moods and atmospheres. An example of this would be, if we used low amount of lighting then it'll be setting a dull and sad atmosphere which would help highlight the meaning behind the song is not a positive atmosphere. Also the other way round as well, as if a large amount of colour is used then it'll set a more upbeat atmosphere and show that they're more likely to be given a positive media video to see.  Jessie J clip Here is a clip of Jessie J where she has dull lighting which represents the atmosphere as dull and an unhappy situation. The song is of a sad subject, it is negative song lyrics, this is helped by the lighting as its all dull however she is shown with a little more light over her so that she is highlighted as the main  This music video gives an impression of a dull meaning behind it just by the setting and equipment used in the shots, thi

Textual Analysis- Please don't leave me by Pink

Performance: The performance consists of Pink, the artiste dressed as a nurse, but not your typical hospital nurse. it is more of a sexy nurse outfit, which is suppose to appeal to the male gaze. Lyrics:  The song is about a couple with a a controlling girlfriend that is abusive towards her boyfriend, pushing him away but not wanting him to actually leave her. '   "I always say how I don't need you, but it's always gonna come right back to this, please don't leave me." Genre / mise en scene: The song is a Pop rock, dance pop song. whereas the video genre is horror/thriller. Camerawork: The camera is often seen following Pink, there is often the use of low angle that makes Pink appear powerful. Editing: Often the shots are continuous, especially when they are fighting at the start, they are also quite jumpy and choppy to go with their fast actions. There is a lot of back and forth with the use of continuous to show the set and the scenes. I
