Editing Diary

This is our editing diary of our filming to keep updated on what we may need to change or re-film etc.

What was discarded?

We had some ideas that we had kept in our video however they didn't match or look good enough to be shown as a music video, therefore we discarded a few hots we had taken and got rid of them however we kept them for rough cuts. We had to discard these shots in order to get better ones that fitted better.

A few things we had planned and put on our story board however when we filmed it we didn't find it effective and didn't think it looked right with the music.

What changed?

We changed some of our ideas whilst filming as we didn't want to stick to exactly what we planned as when we started to film we decided it was a bit boring and repetitive so we wanted to add more shots and locations in, we ended up with more than one location not just the park.

Did it go smoothly?

Our video as we stared to piece it together for the first time didn't go together perfectly however we did take parts away so that it sat nicer with the music, once added the second day filming to it we them was able to start to build our music video. We did have a few bits that didn't move nicely from one shot to the next however we edited this and it then sat a lot nicer. With it being a music video it does mean its okay to be slightly more chopping and more cuts than a film.

This is what we got from our first piece of filming and second, however on our third shooting we are hoping to be able to sort out anything that didn't go smoothly or that was discarded and needed to be changed.

Equipment/Lighting decisions in our music video

An example of this would be, if we used low amount of lighting then it'll be setting a dull and sad atmosphere which would help highlight the meaning behind the song is not a positive atmosphere. Also the other way round as well, as if a large amount of colour is used then it'll set a more upbeat atmosphere and show that they're more likely to be given a positive media video to see.  Jessie J clip Here is a clip of Jessie J where she has dull lighting which represents the atmosphere as dull and an unhappy situation. The song is of a sad subject, it is negative song lyrics, this is helped by the lighting as its all dull however she is shown with a little more light over her so that she is highlighted as the main  This music video gives an impression of a dull meaning behind it just by the setting...
