Production work- marking

Level 2 There is evidence of a basic level of ability in the creative use of some of the following technical skills: • shooting material appropriate to the task set; including controlled use of the camera, attention to framing, variety of shot sizes and close attention to mise en scene • editing so that meaning is apparent to the viewer and making selective and appropriate use of shot transitions, captions and other effects • recording and editing sound with images appropriately. Where a candidate has worked in a group, a basic contribution to construction is evident

I like the start and the lip synching is good. I like the way you timed the candle being blown out with the beat of the song. You have some nice pace to the editing but there are still a few shots that are held too long. The problem is the narrative section which is unclear and there are some very random images in there like the moving bush!! There is some repetition and the video is short.

Video 22/40

I like the idea of using the hand drawn school girl type imagery but I think you could have improved the one top right. I really like the couple inside the disc section and you've got all of the conventions

Digipak 7/10

The website works and follows conventions. I'm not entirely happy with the background as it feels a bit too busy.

Textual Analysis - Sia Chandelier

Sia Chandelier This music video is mainly well known for its  choreography as this is a memorable factor, there is no lip syncing - it is just literally Maddie dancing to the meaning of the song. Performance –  Sia doesn't like to star in her own videos, she has Maddie Ziegler a young girl who dancers throughout for her as a dancer. The performance is of Maddie dancing all around an abandoned, neglected location which is dirty and unpleasant. Lyrics -   The words "swinging from a chandelier" is usually know as a metaphor for partying to excess. As she states in the lyrics "party girls don't get hurt" so if she keeps drinking she won't feel the pain that addictions can eventually give.  She si...

Textual Analysis- Please don't leave me by Pink

Performance: The performance consists of Pink, the artiste dressed as a nurse, but not your typical hospital nurse. it is more of a sexy nurse outfit, which is suppose to appeal to the male gaze. Lyrics:  The song is about a couple with a a controlling girlfriend that is abusive towards her boyfriend, pushing him away but not wanting him to actually leave her. '   "I always say how I don't need you, but it's always gonna come right back to this, please don't leave me." Genre / mise en scene: The song is a Pop rock, dance pop song. whereas the video genre is horror/thriller. Camerawork: The camera is often seen following Pink, there is often the use of low angle that makes Pink appear powerful. Editing: Often the shots are continuous, especially when they are fighting at the start, they are also quite jumpy and choppy to go with their fast actions. There is a lot of back and forth with the use of continuous to show the set and the scenes. I...

Christian Karlsson is  also known as 'Bloodshy' and Christian Karlsson is known as 'Style of Eye'.  Their first debut was their self-titled Galantis  and was released on the 1st April 2014. The duo met at Karlsson's Robotberget studios in Stockholm in 2007. How did they form together? They originally were  two separate DJ's.  Karlsson worked and collaborated with artists such as Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry and Britney Spears.  Whilst Eklow produced Icon Pop's hit 'I love it".  Karlsson reached out to Eklow for help with remixing his song 'Animal".  After that they began to hang out more as a duo and began exchanging ideas in the studio. T That was when they realised that they had formed a band and named themselves "Galantis".  The website features a subscription of option where you can...
