Pitch for our music video

The song we have chosen for our main music video is 'Runaway' by Galantis. After completing primary research through an online survey that was posted on social media such as Facebook and Snapchat, we were able to find out peoples opinions on music videos that they had previously watched. This information has allowed us to come up with a plan that will meet peoples expectations.  The Music video we will create will be just under 4:00 minutes because after having 44 people complete the questionnaire majority said that they preferred to watch a video under 4:00 minutes. This is due to if it is too long people don't bother watching anymore and just continue to listen, by them not watching as well wont allow them to recognise the video the next time it is on. We would like to change the type of location we will film it in. Instead of it being the city at night with all the lights beaming, we would like to change it to grassy land/fields so we can give off a different atmosph

Mood board

Our initial ideas For our mood board which is filled with ideas, we looked at many videos to see which kind of artistes songs we would like to do we also viewed videos that would be easier and more effective for us to video or try and recreate as we are only students therefore we have less equipment and not so much resources to work with. Therefore some of the videos we looked at or ideas we had or received from watching other videos we couldn't do or would have to adapt to fit our equipment time and technology we have in the school. We then got ideas on the types of videos we would like to recreate for our prelim, we looked at Jess Glynns song " Take me home", as being our final piece to recreate as it was pretty simple and includes a large quantity of lip syncing as most shots includes the lip syncing. However we decided that it wasn't the typical music video with fast cuts full of fun and excitement. For our actual recreation of a music video we looked at mo

Representation in music videos

Different ways of representation... Gender  Females are often shown differently to men are displayed. Women are usually more sexualised. Wearing small amount of clothing or mainly "skimpy" clothing. This is usually put in place to reinforce the "Male Gaze". In music videos men are usually displayed as people who are mainly labelled as powerful with quite a lot of success in money and can attract a lot of the female gender. This image is done in order to look admirable to other men for them to want to be what they are. Nice clothes and nice props are used in order to entice the female gender into liking them. In  genres like pop they often stick to the idea of the female artist or actor in the music video as being sexualised however in different genres for example R&B the artist,if female,is often shown in a different light which is as being empowering and independent human beings. They are also brought to attention in different ways instead of being brough

Textual analysis of Henry Nathan "A grade"

Henry Nathan "A grade" The lip syncing within this music video was done very precisely and the lyrics were represented throughout the actions presented by the actors in the video. The only sound in this song is the track in the background. There is the use of a drum beat that leads to the editing being sharpened. There is also a slow tempo throughout. This music video is a narrative and would be classed as a singer song writer type of song. The cinematography within the music video is good. There are a number of shots in the video and there is also the use of a steady cam when filming. Which helps to keep footage steady and this makes it appear far more effective.  There is a good use of rule of thirds during this music video. There is also a variety of angles used to create different impressions to the audience. Also the editing is very quick to match the story line. The cuts however are very neat and precise, which sits very well with the narrative. This video

Save you A8 graded textual analysis of past students

Save you A8 graded The lyrics in this song is illustrated. The song ties in with the lyrics and the visuals it links into the story line. The lyrics tell the story of what the visuals display. There isn’t any repetition of the visuals and the actual video however the lyrics are repeated a lot during the music video. This song would be labelled as a singer song writer type of music video due to some of its characteristics. The story line which is shown by imagery emphasising the lyrics. It relates to 1940, the outfits of the actors that they are wearing and presented. There is consistency between sound and the cinematography. One shot was very shaky which didn’t match was displayed at the time, making it look like an accidental mistake. The lighting however at the wedding is bright and gives the correct impression of it being a happy environment of something new however the funeral had the same lighting therefore it ca

Ben Norris G324 textual analysis of past students

Ben Norris G324 This music video there is no lip syncing within the whole duration of the video. When it comes to the lyrics it says “Walking home” repetitively which goes with what is being displayed by the boy walking throughout in a forward direct towards somewhere. In this video it is the visual that reflects the story and what is happening. The video is a narrative as he tells the story of the song. The music is just a track there is no other music or sounds added in or produced during the music is played. The music is just played alongside the visual video, which is a narrative video. The style of music would be classed as indie music this can be recognised by the style of clothing worn. The camera shots are very unsteady which ruins the video as it is not effective as none of the shots are still. If some shots were unsteady for effect hen that would work well but not when all of the shots are unsteady. T
