Mood board of digipaks that have inspired you in your planning

This is a mood board of images that we took inspiration from when creating our own digipak. Some of the images we found and wanted to use ideas from on our own and other ones we used as inspiration for the ideas of the cover etc, the pattern on the front or the text styles. We wanted to get different ideas on how we could set ours out and different layouts etc, also we wanted to look at different colours to inspire us for our type of music genre. is is our mood board full of ideas we have collected - These images have inspired us in one way or another to help with the designing of ours. We like different aspects from each of them and that's why we have chosen them to help us. These are four different digipaks that we liked personally and got our attention when looking at them. We liked these chosen ones as they all had something different about them. The first image is the digipak for Rihanna which is in the same genre as ours. We liked the colours use

What is a Digipak?

What a digipak is  A Digipak is a pullout in a CD that has features. It is a patented piece of packaging used in a CD.They normally have a gate fold like a book does. The outside packaging is usually made of paper or card where as the inside is usually only made of plastic or flimsy less expensive materials. Digipaks are designed to fold into a square shape. The back and the front panels are the main promoters of the CD and are used to drawn in the customers and consumers. The inside of the digipak is more there to give extra information and show images of the artist or of the music videos of the songs on the CD. Also the outside packaging is usually more appealing than the inside, the inside is usually more subtle and basic. S ome codes and conventions of a digipak  The front -  The front of a digipak tends to be eye catching The artist is usually displayed on the front, if not then an icon that describes the CD T itle usually put on the front cover The back - These are t

Merchandise/other marketing opportunities

Most companies or music companies especially, will advertise their music videos through things for example they may do this through advertising a new perfume and the music will be the newly released song or they'll use snippets of the music video so that people get a little 'sneak peak' Marketing opportunities However another way of marketing the music video may be through sticking it on the radio and it being labelled as new and top of the charts etc, in order to allow it to receive a positive entrance to the market. An easy way to advertise or market a song before it is released entirely to the public may be through the radio due to it being able to hit an audience widely in a quick time frame.  However now that technology has developed the most necessary and effective way of marketing is through social media, for example Twitter and Facebook.  They may set up pages and advertise themselves as people are able to share, retweet, favourite and make it viral with each o

Equipment/Lighting decisions in our music video

Lighting is very important in music videos, as it allows it to be easier to see and also as it sets certain moods and atmospheres. An example of this would be, if we used low amount of lighting then it'll be setting a dull and sad atmosphere which would help highlight the meaning behind the song is not a positive atmosphere. Also the other way round as well, as if a large amount of colour is used then it'll set a more upbeat atmosphere and show that they're more likely to be given a positive media video to see.  Jessie J clip Here is a clip of Jessie J where she has dull lighting which represents the atmosphere as dull and an unhappy situation. The song is of a sad subject, it is negative song lyrics, this is helped by the lighting as its all dull however she is shown with a little more light over her so that she is highlighted as the main  This music video gives an impression of a dull meaning behind it just by the setting and equipment used in the shots, thi

Meet the artist (Galantis)

Who are they? Galantis are a duo of two Swedish DJ's called Christian Karlsson and Linus Eklow. . Christian Karlsson is  also known as 'Bloodshy' and Christian Karlsson is known as 'Style of Eye'.  Their first debut was their self-titled Galantis  and was released on the 1st April 2014. The duo met at Karlsson's Robotberget studios in Stockholm in 2007. How did they form together? They originally were  two separate DJ's.  Karlsson worked and collaborated with artists such as Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry and Britney Spears.  Whilst Eklow produced Icon Pop's hit 'I love it".  Karlsson reached out to Eklow for help with remixing his song 'Animal".  After that they began to hang out more as a duo and began exchanging ideas in the studio. T That was when they realised that they had formed a band and named themselves "Galantis".  The website features a subscription of option where you can sign up to re

Branding discussion

For our website and digipak We made a banner already and the colours used in that was purple, black and white. We would like to make sure our titles, fonts, images and colours are all these three colours or similar. This is the colour of our banner which will be shown on the website and the digipak. Therefore the colours need to be similar and match up with this. We have different ideas and here are a few of them- Background - Purple Font/title - White Images - Black and white Background - White Font/title - Black Images - Purple features  Background - Black Font/title - Purple  Images - Black and white These are the different ways we could dish out the colours so they're all being used but in different ways as we would prefer to only use the three colours so it is simple but effective. We decided the most effective way of using the colours and this was by having the following - Background - White Font/titles - Black Images - Purple We felt this would be

Production Logo Feedback

Our Logo Production Once creating the Production Logo we looked at it and wanted to receive some feedback on it so we decided to ask a few people in our class what they thought of it. We asked three simple questions so that we could get some feedback. Classmate 1  Positive - The colours used are simple with the white text contrasting against it, easy to read. Negative - It i s only a background of colour and text over the top it isn't a image logo which are more interesting. Classmate 2  Positive - This in my eyes would be very memorable and would be pretty easy to remember in the future. Negative - There isn't any image shown within it to make it even more memorable. We asked a handful of people however these two comments made were the most beneficial and they both were very similar because they both agreed on the same negative comment about the logo. When/if creating another logo we would definitely do it the same but maybe within an image or an icon being

Production Logo

Our Logo This is our logo for our music video that I created -  The logo was created to fit in within our chosen genre of electro-pop. It fits in well with the genre of the song as it is electro-pop, which often uses vibrant colours. In this case there has been'funky' colours used which is pink blended into an orange colour. These colours work well together and the white text across it actually presenting the Logo name works well as it stands out.  The logo  was created with an App Store app called 'Logo maker'. The app allows you to make your own original logos through uses of different colours, textures, fonts and shapes. We could've used templates to help us build it however we wanted it to be original so we built it from scratch. We left it basic and no image included, we kept it as a background with text only.
